NCHSAA announces partnership with GameChanger by Dick’s Sporting Goods

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The NCHSAA announced that DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) which owns GameChanger, the leading digital scorekeeping and team management app for baseball and softball teams, has been named the preferred pitch count reporting tool for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), the governing body of high school athletics in North Carolina. The free app offers custom pitch count alerts and inning-by-inning pitch count recaps that make it easy for coaches to monitor and protect their pitchers’ health.

In 2017, NCHSAA implemented rules that establish the maximum number of pitches that can be thrown by pitchers in a game, prescribing a number of days of rest based on the number of pitches thrown. GameChanger will automatically send comprehensive daily pitch count reports to NCHSAA for seamless, statewide pitch count reporting for coaches and NCHSAA.

In addition to monitoring pitch counts, GameChanger provides coaches with access over 150 statistics, instant spray charts, and a full suite of team management features, including game and practice scheduling and a player attendance tracker. While the coaches are scoring the games, GameChanger generates a live GameStream so family and friends can watch the games live, even if they are unable to make it to the field. Since its launch in 2009, more than 13 million games have been scored using GameChanger.  

GameChanger also works in conjunction with MaxPreps, a website for high school athletics news, stats and recruiting, to sync game data and pitch counts instantly between both platforms.

This partnership adds to GameChanger’s ongoing efforts to improve safety in youth baseball. This year, GameChanger was named the exclusive baseball and softball app partner of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and has partnered with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association to help bring the safety of youth baseball players of their states.  

Last year, GameChanger became the official pitch count reporting solutions for all high school baseball teams in Virginia and Colorado. In 2015, GameChanger partnered with MLB and USA Baseball to become the firstPitch Smartcertified tool to track player pitch counts.
