CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association received a violation report from Newton-Conover High School that they used an ineligible wrestler in the Dual Team Wrestling State Championship final.
By rule, Newton-Conover must vacate the team championship won. NCHSAA Handbook rule 3.2.3.f states, “If a winning team is disqualified at the conclusion of the first round, the losing team will advance. Otherwise, if a disqualification occurs during the playoffs or after the playoffs have concluded, that place or position remains vacant.”
