STUDENTS FROM NORTHWOOD & FOREST HILLS EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Katharina Floyd from Northwood High School and Malik Timmons from Forest Hills High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Floyd, a sophomore on the Northwood women’s golf team, captured the Big 8 3A Championship by firing a 1-over par, 74 over the Chapel Hill Country Club track on her way to medalist honors. She led the Chargers to a first-place team finish in the tournament. Floyd was named the Big 8 3A Conference Player of the Year.

Timmons, a senior on the men’s soccer team at Forest Hills, piled up eight goals in two matches during the week. Timmons punched home six goals in a win over Anson and another two in a hard-fought victory against West Stanly. The Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in conference play. His eight goals on the week brought his season total up to 50 on the season.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in late April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
