CHAPEL HILL— Sarah Hicks from Nash Central High School and Sage Surratt from Lincolnton High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Her 50 free time of 26.73 seconds and 100 free time of 1:01.85 secured an automatic Regional Qualification time in each event. She also took first in the pole vault this week, clearing 8’ 6”. She hopes to compete in both the State swimming and indoor track championships.

Surratt, a senior on the Wolves hoops team, helped lead Lincolnton to a perfect 3-0 record on the week. He scored 43 points against East Lincoln on Tuesday, following that up one night later with a 40 point performance against Forestview. Then on Friday, he exploded for a career high 57 points against Bandys. According to Maxpreps, Surratt is the third leading scorer in the nation averaging 378 points per game. He plans to sign a national letter of intent in football with Wake Forest this week.
