West Caldwell Announces New Personnel

WEST CALDWELL ANNOUNCES NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH
West Caldwell High School is pleased to announce Stephen McMasters has been named athletics director and Hank Newson has been named head men’s varsity basketball coach, according to a press release from the school.
  McMasters is a 1994 graduate of West Caldwell, where he participated in football, soccer, basketball, and baseball.  He went on to Appalachian State and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees.  
McMasters returned to West Caldwell as a teacher in 1999, where he has served in the CTE department as a drafting teacher.  He has coached various sports including women’s varsity basketball (four years as head coach), men’s basketball (twelve years as assistant coach), baseball (two years as assistant coach), and football (one year assistant coach).  He  is entering his third year as the head coach for the men’s and women’s cross-country.
 Newson, a Pennsylvania native, has been teaching and coaching at West Caldwell since 2004.  He is a graduate of West Virginia University and teaches World History in the freshman academy.  Newson has been an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program since 2005.  
During his tenure, he has also served as an assistant coach for the football and baseball programs.  The new coach comes from a solid educational and athletic background; his father was a high school principal and varsity men’s basketball coach in Pennsylvania.
