Teen Fest Collective Voice For Safe And Drug-free Communities

TeenFest is a talent contest and showcase of original performances with substance-free and violence-free themes. TeenFest 2K7, the 3rd annual celebration, is Saturday, April 7, 2007, 1 to 4pm at the BN Duke Auditorium at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.

TeenFest serves to showcase teen talent and raise community awareness of substance abuse prevention, violence prevention and other community resources. It is an opportunity for young people to raise their collective voices in contribution to the call for safe and drug-free communities in North Carolina. It also offers youth and their families a substance-free social event where they can gather, support each other and promote the prevention message. There is also an area designated for booths featuring information relevant to the TeenFest theme.

High school students are invited to participate through the media, their schools, community groups and places of worship. Open auditions are held in Durham and Raleigh prior to the event. The top acts are invited to compete at TeenFest.

The event features a live DJ, emcee, a panel of celebrity judges, guest performers, give-away prizes for audience participation and cash prizes awarded to the top three acts.

Teen Fest 2K7 is a collaborative effort by local and statewide non-profit agencies and individuals interested in furthering the substance abuse prevention and anti-violence messages. MyRDC and CW22 televisions are the media sponsors. For participation information, contact Donna-maria Harris, CW22 / MyRDC Marketing Director at 919-872-2854.
