CHAPEL HILL – Patty Evers of East Bladen High School and Mickey Lineberger of South Point High School in Belmont are the recipients of the second annual Toby Webb Coach of the Year Award given by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.



The two outstanding coaches will be recognized at the NCHSAA’s Annual Meeting on May 3 at the Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina.

CHAPEL HILL—The North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced today the winners of two special awards established in the name of the late Pat Gainey, long-time coach who was inducted into the NCHSAA Hall of Fame earlier this month.



Cathy Miller of Alexander Central High School is the recipient of the inaugural Pat Gainey Coach Award, and Kathryn “Kate” Moye is the winner of the first Gainey Student Scholarship award.

CHAPEL HILL—Charlie Adams, executive director of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, has received a prestigious honor.



The Triangle Chapter of North Carolina of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame named Adams winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football award.



The presentation was made on Monday night at the chapter's 12th annual awards dinner, held this year at the Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina.

CHAPEL HILL—The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has announced the winter standings in the Wachovia Conference Cup competition for the 2006-2007 academic year.



The Wachovia Conference Cup, sponsored annually by Wachovia and sanctioned by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, recognizes high school sports programs that achieve the best overall performance within their respective athletic conferences. Wachovia has sponsored the conference awards program since 1980.

CHAPEL HILL – Lauren White of North Mecklenburg High School and Colby Meador of Rockingham County High School have been named the recipients of the Clary Medals awarded by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.



The two outstanding student-athletes will be recognized at the NCHSAA’s Annual Meeting on May 3 at the Dean E. Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

CHAPEL HILL—Over 10,000 individual awards have been given by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association to student-athletes for their achievements in the classroom as well as on the playing court or athletic field.



The NCHSAA made the awards in its Scholar-Athlete program, which includes recognition of varsity teams which attain certain grades as well as individual athletes.

Wachovia Bank, N.A., along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the standings after the winter sports seasons in the Wachovia Cup competitions for the 2006-07 academic year.



The Wachovia Cup award, sponsored by Wachovia Bank, N.A., and the NCHSAA, recognizes the high schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications. The Wachovia Cup program is in its 28th year.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK-- The North Carolina High School Athletic Association held its spring 2007 Coach-Captain Retreat over the weekend of March 16-18, the 25th in a series of successful events.



The event, part of the Association’s Student Services program, was held at the Radisson Governors Inn in late October and attracted students from all over North Carolina.
