AED PLACEMENT PROJECT (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR)
In Fall 2007, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association embarked upon a project to place automated external defibrillator units into member high schools that did not currently possess one unit on their respective campuses. Projected project conclusion was effective in February 2009. Interest income funds generated through the NCHSAA Endowment Fund and approved for use by the NCHSAA Board of Directors was utilized to fund this project. Total cost was about $150, 000.
Over 100 member high schools participated in the project and received an AED unit.
Prior to initiating the project, numerous surveys were sent to member schools to determine which and how many member schools did not, at that time, possess an AED on their respective campuses.
