NCHSAA School Grant Program
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s independent auditors, Blackman & Sloop, recently completed a financial audit for the 2007-08 school year. As a result of the economic downturn, investment interest on the NCHSAA Endowment Fund is negative for the 2007-08 year.
Per the recent Regional Meetings and the unveiling of the new NCHSAA School Grant Program, school administrators were informed that pending audit review this fall, the amount of funds available to fund the new grant program would be approved at the December Board Meeting.
Due to the fact that there are no interest funds for the preceding year (2007-08), the grant program is temporarily suspended. We hope to re-instate this important program for the next school year but funding will be dependent upon interest earned for the current 2008-09 year and we anticipate a similar return due to the current state of the economy.
We are deeply saddened by this turn of events that are beyond our control and we recognize that member schools are likewise facing similar financial woes.
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association is pleased to announce a new School Grant program made possible through earnings from the NCHSAA Endowment Fund.
The NCHSAA will award grants to member high schools to assist in supporting initiatives and programs that fall within identified areas of focus including:
• Sportsmanship Initiatives
• Character Education
• Coaches Education
• Health & Wellness Initiatives
• Student Leadership Development
• Citizenship Development
Please note that every grant request will be reviewed but may not receive funding based upon the recommendations of the Grant Review Committee. Furthermore, grant requests may not be fully funded as priority is given to projects and programs that have other funding sources, as outlined in the Grant Brochure.
Questions regarding the grant process can be directed to Karen DeHart kmdehart@email.unc.edu.
