Athletic Director of the Year – Region 6
The “Dave Harris Athletic Director of the Year Award” is being established to honor and recognize Dave Harris for his vast athletic administration experience and accomplishments as well as the huge number of lives he has so positively touched. It takes a special person to run an athletic program at the high school level – a person capable of wearing many hats simultaneously who can remain professional and calm under pressure but also reach out to the young athletes in the school and think at their respective levels. The ultimate annual goal is to present this award to one athletic director chosen from across the state of North. Until we get at least 50% of the $100,000 goal, we will not make this award at the statewide level. Therefore, we are still seeking contributions in support of this award. In the meantime, we will offer a regional award in Region 6 (Coach Harris’ area of influence and current residence) to a deserving athletic director with initial nominations accepted in Spring of 2009 and the first award made at the Region 6 Meeting in September 2009.
