ST. STEPHENS LOSES HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
HICKORY—St.
Stephens High School will be looking for a new head football coach, according
to The Observer-News-Enterprise.
Chris
Bunting is leaving St. Stephens after just one year as the Indians' head
football coach. Bunting, who is 32 years of age, will take the defensive coordinator
job at Clover High School, a 4-A school in South Carolina. The new head coach
there, Chad Smith, coached with Bunting when both were at West Montgomery.
Bunting
had replaced Fred Whalen about a year ago as the head of the Indian program. Bunting previously coached at West Motngomery, North Stanly and Patton.
A
search has begun for a replacement for Bunting, who will be the seventh head
football coach at the Catawba County school since 1996.
