On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Durham Hillside and Person Roxboro tied a national record and set the NCHSAA record for fewest points scored when Durham Hillside prevailed 2-0 in men’s basketball. The first two points were scored immediately after tip-off and Person held the ball for remainder of the game on account of Hillside’s height advantage; taking one shot at the end of each quarter. There were three fouls in the game and Leon McRae was the game’s leading scorer.

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Davis Whitfield becomes the sixth person in history to head the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, taking over as executive director from Charlie Adams, who retired.
