On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Lawrence “Cotton” Clayton of Zebulon Vance pulled down a NCHSAA record 46 rebounds in a 61-37 defeat of Knightdale. The future East Carolina Pirate’s 46 rebounds ranks first all-time in NCHSAA history while his mark of 44 rebounds in a game also ranks second all-time.
January 6, 1999
George Leach of Olympic High School in Charlotte recorded 19 blocked shots in a 52-42 victory over Myers Park. His 19 rejections ranks first in NCHSAA history and ranks among the all-time single-game performances nationally.
