On
this day in history in the NCHSAA, Winston-Salem Parkland defeated Crest 27-21
in the North Carolina High School Athletic Assocation state 3-A football
championship game at Kenan Stadium. The playoffs were delayed
one week in the West by litigation, but the NCHSAA prevailed in the case and
the 3-A championship was played a week later than the other classifications.
