On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Red Springs and Tar Heel played a wild high scoring football game when the score was knotted up at 44-44 at the end of regulation. Tar Heel eventually won in double overtime 58-56.

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Gwen Watson of Greenville Rose fired a six-under par 66 in the Big East Conference women's high school golf tournament at Greenville Country Club. The par 72 layout was set at 4,806 yards.
