LACARDO MEANS STEPS DOWN AT
THOMASVILLE AS COACH
THOMASVILLE -- Lacardo Means, a veteran basketball coach who has been very successful at Thomasville High School, resigned his coaching post, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Means spent the past four years as the varsity women's coach, compiling a record of 70-26. He also spent 15 years as an assistant to Woody Huneycutt on the men's side during a span in which the Bulldogs won five state championships.
Means will remain as the attendance coordinator for Thomasville City Schools. But he said that he wants to spend time with his 1-year old granddaughter and that he has another grandchild on the way. He is also a longtime AAU coach who helped lead the Kappa Magic, with Chris Paul, to the 17-under national championship in 2002.
He said he would continue coaching in the Bond Lady Magic program out of Thomasville, which has three girls AAU teams.
