SCOTLAND BASEBALL STAR TO PLAY
IN UNDER ARMOUR ALL AMERICAN GAME
LAURINBURG - Scotland High
School baseball standout Curt Britt has been chosen to play in the 2011 Under
Armour All-America Baseball Game. The contest is scheduled Aug. 13 at the
Chicago Cubs' famed Wrigley Field.
Britt was selected from a field of more than
400,000 high school baseball players, and is one of only 36 to be picked for
the game. He is on the National roster in a game that will be the National team
against the American team.
Britt, listed at
6-2 and 220 pounds, is already committed to play for two-time national champion
South Carolina. He is the son of Scotland baseball coach and athletic director
Tommy Britt.
The
game, which will be televised nationally on the MLB Network,
itself is the culmination of a four-day baseball celebration, including a meet
and greet with MLB Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., a formal workout for MLB
scouts, and a home run derby to showcase their power strokes.
“Under
Armour is proud to showcase the next generation of elite baseball athletes at
the 2011 All-America Game,” said Matt Mirchin, Under Armour Senior Vice
President, Sports Marketing. “Hosting these players at historic Wrigley Field
and giving them the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the greatest
players in baseball is an opportunity of a lifetime and Under Armour is
thrilled to continue the tradition for the fourth year.”
