FUQUAY-VARINA SOFTBALL TEAM GOES DEEP
Fuquay-Varina's fast-pitch
softball team recently put itself into the North Carolina High School Athletic
Association record book with a home run performance listing.
The Tigers banged out six
home runs-- all over the fence 200 feet from home plate-- in a single game as
Fuquay-Varina rolled past Panther Creek 26-0 at Panther Creek.
Senior shortstop Alexa
Cannon slammed a pair of three-run homers and freshman first baseman Kelsey
Ward also hit two, including a grand slam and a two-run shot.
Senior center fielder
Camise Patterson and junior outfielder Jessi Johnson hit solo shots in the
game.
The state record for home
runs in a single game is eight, set by North Surry against Hibriten on March
24, 2004.
