NCHSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN
SWIMMING AND DIVING SCHEDULED
CHAPEL
HILL-- North Carolina High School Athletic Association
state championships in all classifications of swimming and diving are set for
the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary this weekend.
The
All American Swim Supply-NCHSAA 2011 State Swimming and Diving Championships

championships will kick off on Thursday with the 1-A/2-A event, followed on

competition, all at the Triangle Aquatic Center.
All
American Swim Supply is in its second year as the title partner of the NCHSAA
State Swimming & Diving Championships. It is a full service swim store and team dealer located at
Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
The
partnership allows opportunities for NCHSAA swimming programs and individual
athletes statewide to secure necessary swimming related accessories and
products via Internet or in-store sales.
Swimming
will commence each day with preliminaries starting after the coaches' meeting,
which is scheduled to end at around 8:45 am. Finals are slated to begin at 5:00
pm each day.
The
diving for all classifications will occur at Pullen Aquatic Center in Raleigh.
Diving competition will be start on Wednesday, February 9, with the 1-A/2-A
divers, with warm-ups beginning at 2 p.m. and competition at 2:45. The 4-A
divers will compete on Thursday, with warm-ups starting at 1:00 and then
competition 45 minutes later.
The
3-A diving competition is Friday, with all warm-ups starting at 1 pm and

“All
American Swim Supply is proud of our partnership with the NCHSAA,” said owner
Keith Haden. “We look forward to developing new relationships with swimmers and
coaches in the North Carolina area."
In
men's competition, Carrboro is the defending 1-A/2-A team champion and swept to
victory in the team standings in last weekend's 1A/2A Eastern Regionals.
Kernersville Bishop McGuinness captured top honors in the Western Regionals.
Raleigh
Cardinal Gibbons earned the 3-A title last year and also won its regional last
week. A perennially strong Charlotte Catholic squad won the 3-A Western
Regional title. Defending 4-A champ Charlotte Providence will be strong again,
coming off last weekend's winning performance in the 4-A Western Regionals,
while East Chapel Hill and Cary Green Hope also took regional titles last
weekend among 4-A men's competitors.
Last
year East Chapel Hill broke the Providence hold on the 4-A women's title, since
the Charlotte school had won five of the last six prior to 2010 and 10 of the
last 12 state crowns. East won the 4-A Central Regional last weekend, while
Providence took the Western title and Cary the Eastern crown.
Charlotte
Catholic won its fifth consecutive 3-A women's state title a year ago and
rolled to this year's Western Regional crown, with Chapel Hill set to challenge
for state honors after taking its own Central Regional championship. West
Davidson is the defending 1-A/2-A champion, with Carrboro and Lake Norman
Charter picking up 2011 regional team titles.
In
addition to All American Swim Supply serving as the title sponsor, Wendy’s is
the presenting sponsor of the NCHSAA sports programs and the Raleigh Sports
Consortium is the primary host sponsor for the championships in Wake County.
