VETERAN COACH TO FILL BASEBALL
ROLE AT PENDER HIGH SCHOOL
BURGAW-- Veteran
head coach Ed Lewis will come out of retirement to coach Pender High School's
baseball team this spring.
The Wilmington Star
News reports that Lewis will take over the baseball coaching position vacated
by Tom Eanes when he accepted the job as Ashley’s football coach.
Lewis, retired
since 2007, served as assistant coach at New Hanover in Wilmington for five
years and started the program at Laney, where he also coached for five years.
Lewis also coached the American Legion team in Brunswick County from 1988-1998.
At New Hanover, Lewis
played for NCHSAA Hall of Fame members Buck Hardee and Leon Brogden.
