CHERRYVILLE HOOPSTERS SETTING MARKS
CHERRYVILLE -- Basketball players at Cherryville High School have been setting some records lately, according to the Gaston Gazette.
Lauren Graham of the Cherryville women's basketball team recently set a school single-game scoring record when she poured in 41 points in a 65-35 victory over county rival Bessemer City.
On the men's side, Terry Whisnant of the Ironmen is approaching a Gaston County career scoring record. The current mark is held by Justin Johnson of Cherryville, who graduated in 2008 after amassing 2,388 points. Whisnant has well over 2,200 during his career and is averaging around 32 points per game this season.
