Clinton’s Mikayla Boykin ties career record for most Quadruple-Doubles in win over Washington

CLINTON, N.C. – Clinton Lady Dark Horses guard Mikayla Boykin continued her torrid pace this season in the Dark Horses 80-37 first round playoff victory over Washington. Boykin collected her third quadruple-double of her career, all of them coming during this her senior season.

Boykin's 37 points brought her season total to 995, which is just 43 points off of third place on the all-time single season record held by Amy Simpson from Morehead with 1,038 points back in 1998-1999. Boykin added 12 rebounds, 11 steals and 11 assists in the first round playoff win to complete her quadruple-double.

In the Dark Horses February 15 game agains West Bladen, Boykin put up 26 points, 12 rebounds with 10 assists and 10 steals as Clinton cruised to a 76-47 victory. Her first quadruple-double was back on February 9 when Clinton beat Heide Trask as she scored 27 points, grabbed 20 rebounds to go along with 11 assists and 10 steals.

There are only 12 quadruple-doubles that have been reported to the NCHSAA in women's basketball history, Boykin now has three of them, which ties her with former Weddington star Stephanie Watts who accumulated three over her career. Watts accomplished her feat with one quadruple-double in three separate seasons, but Boykin is the first to have three quadruple-doubles in a single season or in a single month.

Boykin and Clinton host the defending 2A State Champions, North Pitt, tonight at 6 p.m.
