STUDENTS FROM WESTERN ALAMANCE & SCOTLAND EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Emily Loy of Western Alamance High School and Warren Bell from Scotland High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Loy, a senior on the Warriors Women’s Basketball team, has helped lead the team to a 2-0 start for the first time in over a decade.  Last week, Loy led Western Alamance to 55-39 win over cross town rival Walter Williams High School.  She finished with 16 points, 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 1 assist in the game.  The next evening Loy help lead the Warriors in a win against Southern Alamance High School scoring 17 points and adding 7 rebounds.

Bell, a senior quarterback on the State Championship bound Scotland High Football team, rushed for 309 yards and scored 6 touchdowns for the Fighting Scots in a 47-46 overtime win over Hoggard High School. He scored the game winning two-point conversion in overtime to put the Fighting Scots into the 2017 4A Football State Championship.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year on April 28th. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
