STUDENTS FROM CONCORD & GREEN HOPE EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Andrea Brenk from Concord High School and Jordyn Adams from Green Hope High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.

Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Brenk, a senior on the Spiders women’s tennis squad, dominated all three singles matches she played this week in conference, winning each match 6-0, 6-0. She also posted two doubles wins by scores of 10-1 and 10-0. She helped lead her team to their third straight South Piedmont Conference Regular Season Championship. Brenk boasts a 39-0 record in conference play during her four years at Concord.

Adams, a senior on the Falcons football team, tied a state record for punt returns for touchdown in a game during the team’s victory over Cary. Adams scored on three punt returns, one from 45 yards, and the other two from 65 and 66 yards respectively. He has four punt returns for touchdown on the season, just three shy of the state record for a single season with four games remaining.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in late April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
