NCHSAA grants Thursday night games to WMYA

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has granted WMYA-TV the right to televise 10 live Thursday night high school football games during the upcoming 2016 high school football season within the Greenville-Spartanburg, SC-Asheville, NC television market.

Charter Communications, through its acquisition of Time Warner Cable, is an 11-year NCHSAA television partner and the current exclusive rights holder of live Thursday night games across the state. The NCHSAA worked with Charter Communications to allow this one-year exception.

“Charter/Time Warner Cable has been our partner for more than a decade and has helped increase exposure for our association and member schools,” said Que Tucker, NCHSAA Commissioner. “We are thankful to Charter and appreciative that this could be worked out so our student athletes and communities can benefit.”

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is the official television partner of the NCHSAA and will air the “NCHSAA Game of the Week” live each Thursday from schools across the state as well as playoff and championship events in several sports. TWC SportsChannel is on channel 77 and 323 on Time Warner Cable’s legacy footprint across the Carolinas which historically did not include all of the Asheville market.
