Coaches Named For NCCA All-Star Games in 2016

       GREENSBORO—Coaches have been named by the North Carolina Coaches Association for the 2016 editions of the East-West all-star games, according to the NCCA.

       The East coaching staff for the football game will have Tom Nelson of Wilson Fike as the head coach, with assistants Don Andrews of Corinth Holders, Paul Cornwell of Ayden-Grifton, David Perry of Croatan, Bill Sochovka of Fayetteville Pine Forest and Beau Williams of Jacksonville.

       Clay Lewis of Lenoir Hibriten will be the head coach of the West all-star football team, with assistant coaches Curtis Cagle of North Buncombe, Tim Carson of Weddington, Bill Hall of Northwood, Dave Hunt of Davie and Marty Scotten of Jordan-Matthews.

       The coaches in the women’s basketball game on the East side will be head coach Rick Grantham of Rosewood and assistant Lula Ratley of South Robeson.  The West will be led by Barbara Nelson of Myers Park and assisted by Terry Gossett of Clyde Erwin.

       In men’s basketball, Ike Walker of Fayetteville Jack Britt as head coach and Douglas Erny of Jacksonville as an assistant will make up the East coaching staff, while the West will be led by Jimmy Cleaveland of Smoky Mountain and Ed Wills of Alexander Central.

       The men’s soccer coaches will be Brad Spell of Clinton heading the East team and Bartlett Yancey’s Lynn Massey coaching the West.  In the women’s soccer contest, Chris Haddock of East Montgomery will lead the East squad while Kenan James of Forbush will direct the West.

       The all-star games and the clinic week are scheduled for Greensboro July 18-21 in 2016. The first coaching clinic and all-star games were held in 1949.
