Former T.C. Roberson Star Has Best Year Yet In Majors

Former T.C. Roberson High School baseball star Cameron Maybin, in his first year with the Atlanta Braves, had his best season yet in Major League Baseball, according to a story in the Asheville Citizen-Times.

The Braves center fielder, who was the Most Valuable Player of the 2002 North Carolina High School Athletic Association state championship series won by T.C. Roberson in 2002, had career high totals for batting average (.267), runs batted in (59), home runs (10) and on base percentage (.327).   He also stole 23 bases for Atlanta.

He was traded from the San Diego Padres to Atlanta just before the 2015 season started as part of the deal that sent closer Craig Kimbrel to San Diego. Maybin has also played for Detroit and the Florida Marlins during a nine-year major league career.
