Jimmie Grimsley Passes Away; Arrangements Listed

     GREENVILLE– Dr. Jimmie Grimsley, very supportive of high school athletics in the state and especially in the Pitt County area, died earlier Wednesday of an apparent heart attack at the age of 70.

      Grimsley had been involved with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association's Eastern Regional basketball tournament when it was held in Greenville and was the former president of the Pitt-Greenville Hot Stove League, which promotes baseball in the Greenville area. 

      A graduate of East Carolina University, Jimmie went on to become a long time member of the Kinesiology department of East Carolina  prior to his retirement.

      The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville.The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 am at Wilkerson Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Scott Connor. A graveside service will be held after the service at Evergreen Memorial Garden in Wilson.
