Former Coach Killed In One-Car Accident

A former coach in Rowan County was killed in a one-car accident earlier this week, according to the Salisbury Post.

Highway Patrol officials identified the victim in a fatal Tuesday morning crash on Sherrills Ford Road as Darrell Coy Misenheimer, 57, of Salisbury.

Trooper D.M. Morgan said Misenheimer’s Ford F-250 pickup was the only vehicle involved in the crash that occurred shortly after 9 a.m. in the 3500 block of Sherrills Ford Road.

Misenheimer had coached from 1981 to 2000 at several schools, including West Rowan and East Rowan. He had been a custodian and bus driver with Rowan-Salisbury School System since 2000, district officials said, and also served as a substitute teacher.
