The prompt and parameters for the 2014 North Carolina High School Athletic Association Fall Scholar-Athlete Essay Contest, brought to you by the North Carolina National Guard, will be announced Tuesday.
This will be the second contest developed through the partnership between the North Carolina National Guard and the NCHSAA Scholar-Athlete program. Patrick Butler of Millbrook High School in Raleigh and Elise Matera of Chapel Hill High School won top honors in the inaugural NCHSAA Scholar-Athlete essay contest in the spring.
There were over 40 submissions from 26 different member schools in the inaugural contest.
