Changes In Leadership For Cardinal Gibbons Basketball

RALEIGH—There has been a change in coaches for Cardinal Gibbons High School’s men’s basketball team, according various media reports, including the Raleigh News and Observer.

Marque Carrington, who has been the Crusaders’ head basketball coach, has resigned to take a position on the coaching staff at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh under head coach MarQus Johnson.

The school has announced that Jim Ryan, who has been an assistant to Carrington at Gibbons, will be elevated to the head coaching position. Ryan has both high school and collegiate coaching experience, and his two children currently attend Cardinal Gibbons.

Ryan has had stops at Middle Tennessee State and UNC-Asheville on the collegiate side and Goldsboro and Knightdale in high school basketball.

Carrington had guided the varsity program at Cardinal Gibbons since 2008, and before that was the junior varsity coach there.
