WILMINGTON—The Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame has named four new members for induction, according to the Wilmington Star-News.

Several of the inductees have excellent high school athletic backgrounds.

The late Thell Overman was an outstanding three-sport coach at Wallace-Rose Hill, with a stellar record as a head football coach of 278-73-6 in 37 seasons. Overman was named to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame back in 1991, the fifth class inducted into the NCHSAA Hall.

Others set to join the Greater Wilmington Hall include Kenny Gattison, Glenn Sasser and Margaret Will.

Gattison was a standout basketball player at New Hanover High School who played at Old Dominion and then in the NBA for a number of years. Sasser was a great football coach at New Hanover and Will, from Whiteville, won three LPGA tournaments during her professional career and is now the women’s golf coach at the University of Richmond.
