LEESVILLE ROAD COACH HEADED TO BURLINGTON WILLIAMS

David Green, head football coach at Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, is leaving that position to become the new head coach at Williams High in Burlington.

“This is a big loss for Leesville football, but Coach Green has built a solid foundation for our program and leaves us in a position of strength,” Leesville Road athletic director Jack Rogers said in a written release. “In addition, Coach Green has put together a superb staff, who will continue to build on his success as Pride football moves forward.”

Green took over the Leesville Road program in 2005. In his first season, the Pride went 1-9, But the following season, Green led Leesville Road to a 10-3 mark, including a share of the Cap Seven Conference title, and an appearance in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s state playoffs.

In his six seasons at Leesville Road, Green compiled a 52-24 overall record, winning two conference championships. During the 2010 campaign, Leesville Road posted a 9-3 overall record, losing to Middle Creek in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs in overtime, 41-40.
