Charles B. Aycock High School Continues Celebration

AYCOCK CONTINUES CELEBRATING 50TH ANNIVERSARY

PIKEVILLE— Charles B. Aycock High School has been enjoying the celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The school, which bears the name of North Carolina’s “Education Governor,” Charles Brantley Aycock, opened in 1961 and the school is actually located only three miles from Governor Aycock’s birthplace.

The culmination of the celebration occurred last week during Homecoming Week. The homecoming parade featured members of Aycock’s inaugural graduating class, and a reception also honored other special alumni.

Saturday night featured the homecoming dance. Miesha Boseman was named Homecoming Queen.

The Golden Year celebration actually began with special activities at the commencement exercises back in June at the Aycock football stadium.

Aycock celebrates the fact that “We Are Family!”

The NCHSAA appreciates the contribution of Aycock principal Earl Moore to this story.
